All Things Strawberry to Eat

Fresh, Fun and Delicious
For Festival fun there's always plenty in store. Strawberries chocolate dipped, in shortcake, crepes, and more. Popular favorites include strawberry pizza, funnel cake, kabobs, strawmonade and even BBQ sandwiches with sweet strawberry sauce.

Make It To Go
Strawberries by the pint and flat, along with strawberry plants are among the take home delights.

Stuff Your Face - and win!
Adventure seekers will enjoy the gooey Contests – the Strawberry Tart Toss, Shortcake Eating Contest and Strawberry Relay happening daily.

Every Bite Makes a Difference
Of the 50 food booths on site, close to 20 are operated by non-profit groups who receive 100 percent of proceeds generated from sales to directly benefit their organizations. Entering its 23rd year, the Festival is proud of its role in helping to raise more than two million dollars to benefit schools, churches, service groups and other organizations in our immediate and extended community.

Ventura County Star Recipe Contest
A highly anticipated annual pre-event tradition with media sponsor, The Ventura County Star, a fun berry recipe invites Star readers to send in their favorite recipes using strawberries as the central theme. Entries are not limited to the dessert category. Deadline for submissions is April 28, 2007. Three finalists will be selected to prepare their dishes for the cook off and final judging Wednesday, May 10 at 2PM at the Courtyard by Marriott Oxnard, Ventura. A judging panel will award prizes to each of the finalists and the top winner will have the opportunity to present his/her dish at the Festival in the all-new Strawberry Promenade on Festival weekend.
Dishes will be judged on taste, originality, preparation, best use of strawberry and presentation. A story highlighting the cook off and revealing the winning recipes will be featured in the Ventura County Star prior to the Festival. For the last 2 years, the Festival, in conjunction with the CIty of Oxnard's Solid Waste Division, set a multi-faceted recycling campaign in motion. This campaign resulted in more than two tons of recycled material being sent to the Del Norte Regional Recycling & Transfer Station. The Festival was recognized with the WasteWatch Award from the City of Oxnard for the collaborative effort that set and eco-friendly precedent. Public service announcements encouraged Festival guests to use conveniently located and easily recognizable X-Stream™ recycle bins after they enjoyed all the tasty treats the Festival had to offer. The Festival looks forward to making an even greater impact through its recycling efforts this year.
